Inviting families to participate in Keep Connected begins with relationships. (See Inviting Families and Keeping them Coming.) Use these digital and print tools to generate interest and reinforce your person-to-person and word-of-mouth outreach:
Brochures
This brochure gives in-depth information about Keep Connected to distribute to potential program participants. The inside panel includes a fill-in pdf section to give them information specific to your program. The back panel is blank, so you can create a self mailer if you like. Press Release
Press Releases are an inexpensive way to spread the message about your Keep Connected event, increase attendance, and inform your audience about how your organization is committing itself to strengthening family relationships in your community.

Promotion Ideas

  • Use the press release template to spread the word about your Keep Connected sessions. Tying Keep Connected to local newsworthy events will help get the media’s attention (for example, the first day of school, focus on teen relationships with their family, etc.).
  • Send it to local new organizations (newspapers, radio and TV). Include it in event listings on local media websites and with parenting organizations and schools. Ask people to retweet and share on social media.
  • Post in local Facebook groups (such as related to middle school, local area groups, local parent groups, neighborhood groups, etc) where they will get notifications.
  • Submit to event boards on local radio station websites, local TV stations, etc. Also submit to local middle schools, scouting organizations, etc. who work with young people in the middle school age group.

Social Media
Using social media can be a powerful and inexpensive way to promote Keep Connected. Our social media resources include simple messages for each platform and content to help you spread the Keep Connected messaging while engaging your audience. Use what we have created or create your own on the platforms where parents and families are active.

NOTE: If your organization is new to social media event promotion or social media in general, please see the resources at the bottom of the page.

Add a #Hashtag

By including a hashtag in your promotions, commentary, and post-event thank yous, you’re not only pulling a conversation together, but you’re also making it easier for people to find photos and attendee interactions from your event.

#KeepConnected[YourCity]

Example, for Minneapolis: #KeepConnectedMpls
